Casa Clearwater sits in the clear blue water of the Caribbean, on a white-sand reef off Isla Colón, in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. It runs entirely off the grid on solar power and filtered rainwater.

The house opens on all sides to the views and the breeze. There are shady decks, a large dining table, the “Burgundy Bar”, a natural saltwater pool, two kayaks for exploring the reef, and two outdoor showers for rinsing off at sunset. An on-site caretaker is always available to help.

Final description from the owner to come (text above is adapted from the Airbnb listing)

“Rays glide effortlessly by while schools of fish jump out of the water… At night, the lights illuminate the ‘pool’ and surrounding water.”

Wow! The best Airbnb we have ever rented. The photos are very realistic in their depiction of this place.

Nick was extremely responsive to our many questions before and during our stay. He is flexible and helpful.

We enjoyed sitting on the outdoor decks, watching the plentiful marine life around the Casa, snorkeling in the crystalline blue waters, and watching the frigate birds soaring overhead. Star gazing is amazing! We went into Bocas town one day for lunch, and to walk around and get supplies.

Teo arranged a boat trip for us to starfish beach. It was an amazing day. I have never seen so many starfish in one location. there were more starfish the further we went from the crowded beach area.

Casa Clearwater is extremely well equipped for cooking your own meals. We really enjoyed having the blender to make fresh piña colada‘s with pineapple that we had purchased at a roadside stand when driving in Panama.

Loved Casa Clearwater!!

We had an amazing stay and really enjoyed the house. It’s the perfect place to relax, disconnect, and enjoy some great snorkeling right from the area. Nick was always very responsive and attentive whenever we had any questions, which made everything easy and stress-free. We’d also like to thank Teo, who took care of the boat transfers and the house. He was always punctual, friendly, and incredibly helpful. We highly recommend this place and would gladly stay here again.

This was a very very special place to stay, it felt like being on a large boat! The house is a short transfer from Bocas where we got all our shopping and the swimming, snorkelling and kayaking were all great fun for all the family. We did an early morning boat trip to Starfish beach and recommend going early so you can be the only people there. Nick was very responsive and helpful before arrival and Teo met us at airport and was always on hand with any questions and to drive us when needed in his boat. If you want to swim, relax, read books and have fun family games then this place is perfect

Casa Clearwater is an ocean lover’s paradise! We loved being perched over the coral reefs and snorkeling with the sea creatures each day, it’s like living atop an aquarium. Most days we enjoyed cooking at home in the well equipped kitchen. It’s easy to take a short boat ride to town for lunch or an excursion. Teo is the friendliest and most responsive house manager, we so enjoyed him and appreciate his help. Nick is a fantastic host who provided us great travel suggestions as we planned our arrival. We can’t wait to return!

FAQ

Good to know before you come

How do I get to Casa Clearwater?

Fly into Bocas del Toro’s airport on Isla Colón. You’ll be met at the airport and taken by water taxi to the house, where the property manager will show you around. It’s a ten minute boat ride from the restaurants, bars and shops of Bocas Town. We recommend arriving in Bocas as early as you can on check-in day.

Flight and ferry tips: to come

Is the house really over the water?

Yes. The house stands over the reef and runs on solar power, with filtered rainwater. Bring or buy bottled drinking water and ice. Our manager will take you to the grocery store when you arrive. There’s no air conditioning; the house is open on all sides to the breeze and has ceiling fans. Days average about 85°F, with cooler evenings around 70°F.

How does the boat work during my stay?

Water taxis are how everyone gets around Bocas del Toro. Daily boat trip to town is included in the rental price: one round trip to Bocas Town a day, a ten minute ride, between 7 AM and 7 PM (not on check-in or check-out day, and unused trips don’t carry over). Our boat driver is on call for extra trips, late returns and tours, paid in cash.

Boat and tour prices for direct bookings: to be confirmed

What is there to do nearby?

You can snorkel the reef around the house, paddle the two kayaks, or swim in the natural saltwater pool. By boat you can reach Starfish Beach, Red Frog Beach, Dolphin Bay, Coral Cay, Zapatillas Key and Sloth Island, and go surfing or diving. Bring your own snorkel gear, or buy a set in Bocas Town.

Is it suitable for children?

The house is surrounded by open water and the pool has no gate, so children need close supervision at all times. Age guidance: to be confirmed
